Petting Farm at Gas station in Georgia on I-16 Chevron.

As regular readers of this blog know, Emily is a complete animal enthusiast. So you can imagine her excitement to discover a petting farm at a gas station in Georgia. We found the spot on one of our many trips along the four-hour drive from Atlanta to Savannah. The scenery along this stretch of road is rural, and there aren’t many rest areas. Off of highway 16, Emily spotted some bison in a field behind a gas station. On another trip along this route, she noticed an emu in the same area. Our curiosity was piqued, so we decided to stop and check it out. To Emily’s delight, we found out that the animals we’d seen were living at a gas station with a petting farm. It’s called Mosley’s World Famous Animal Exit Farm, and it’s located at Exit 98 off of I-16 near Metter, Georgia.

We were able to enter the petting farm after paying the gas station cashier $1 per person. We also purchased a bag of animal feed for $1. We highly recommend popping for the bag of feed, as it makes the petting farm experience more fun and interactive.

 Encountering Exotic Birds

Emily loves exotic birds. She was thrilled to see the parrots, cockatoo, and peacocks in the bird barn at Mosley’s Farm. If you’re lucky, you may get to see a peacock display his beautiful tail feathers while you’re visiting the farm.

Perusing the Pond

Near the pond, we saw the emu that had attracted Emily to the farm in the first place, along with a second emu. At first, they were shy, but after we showed some patience, they came over and fed out of our hands. They were Emily’s favorite animals at the farm. Since discovering Mosley’s farm, we stop there each time we travel from Atlanta to Savannah so she can visit these special friends.

Feeding Friendly Goats and Llamas

Mosely’s farm is home to a herd of goats who always seem eager to eat. When they see us coming they line up at the fence waiting to feed. We’re also able to share the food with several llamas that roam the property.
